Elk Meadows, near Mount Hood, Oregon,  Fall of 1979. The bridge to this area of beautiful meadows was washed out a few years after this photograph was taken. When I last checked, the US Forest Service had decided not to rebuild the bridge, thus isolating this grand area from all but the most determined and hardy hikers.
